Case Study - Primary School Student - Maths Tuition

For each case study, I emailed out a series of questions. The parent's response is below each question. In most cases, parents understandably wanted their anonymity maintaining. Finally, for the most part, answers are from busy mums replying on their phones during a lunch break! So please be forgiving if their replies appear abrupt. They receive nothing in return for doing this and are giving up their precious time completely of their own accord. Geoff :)

The student was a Year 5 boy - tutored in Maths till SATS in Year 6. Nan was 'hosting' and paying for lessons.

1. What challenges was your child experiencing before beginning to use our services?

No challenges really. We just wanted him to have straight maths lessons to give a heads up before he went to senior school.

2. What were your goals on beginning to use our services?

Finding a tutor that we could talk to and who understood Harry's needs. We found that in Miss Doyle. Harry was delighted with her and she made his learning fun!

3. Either before or after using our services, what do you think makes us stand out against our competitors?

We didn't research other Agencies. (We) wanted a local small agency with local tutors.
We found what we were looking for in Ash Tutors.

4. How has your child benefited from using our services?

He is much more confident with Maths and has a definite 'have a go' attitude !

5. This one is all about your child's 'story'. Can you highlight their plight, or 'journey' from before their tuition, during it and then after their tuition? I know this is a 'biggie', but this most likely is the answer that other parents will be interested in.

We decided to 'source' a tutor locally for our grandson. He was in Year 5 at our local infant/junior school.
We wanted to give him an opportunity to have a 'heads up' and gain confidence in Maths.
This happened !!
He enjoyed learning and our 'Tutor' made the learning FUN.
Since progressing through Year 6 he's really gained confidence and now he's at Senior school his approach is one of 'taking things in his stride'.

6. What would you say to other parents considering hiring a private tutor, and in particular, in relation to Ash Tutors and other tuition companies?

If you're considering getting a tutor for your child/grandchild it's worth researching locally and speaking at length to Geoff to discuss the options available.
We did !
